There has been a lot of discussion about CBS' Monday night comedy block this season, mostly regarding the 9pm anchor, 2 Broke Girls. 2 Broke Girls joins a long line of popular shows in the timeslot. The shows that have been a part of the timeslot are I Love Lucy, All in the Family, M*A*S*H, Murphy Brown, and Everybody Loves Raymond. After the popularity of the "Which Top Show is Best" tournament, I've decided to see which CBS comedy, airing on Mondays at 9pm, has been the best in the past 50 years. Each week, a new set of brackets will be published until we reveal which comedy is the best. Will I Love Lucy, the winner of "Which Top Show is Best?" repeat as a winner, or will a different show surprise?
Please note: This tournament begins with the 1951 television season, when I Love Lucy inherited the timeslot. Previous shows that may have aired in the 1950, or earlier (i.e., 1940's) have been excluded from the tournament. Also excluded from the tournament are The Betty White Show (which lasted one season, 14 episodes, 1977) and AfterMash (which was critically thrashed and lasted only 29 episodes, 1983). All other shows have been included.
