The Championship Round pits I Love Lucy vs. Murphy Brown. It's the battle of two powerful women who dominated CBS' lineup for many years.
I Love Lucy is a classic series that has been in syndication since it went off the air way back in 1957. It previously won the "Which Top Rated Series is the Best Overall", defeating ER. I Love Lucy aired in the Monday 9/8c timeslot for its entire six year (181 episode) run.
Murphy Brown is a surprise for the Championship Round. It defeated #1 seed M*A*S*H and #2 seed Everybody Loves Raymond. Can it defeat yet another #1 seed or is its run going to come up short? Murphy Brown has really never worked in syndication. Some say its because the humor is outdated, but will people look beyond that? Murphy Brown aired in the Monday 9/8c timeslot for nine of its ten seasons (226 of the 247 episodes), including the series finale during its tenth season. Talk about being dominant!
