Round one is now over and its time to move forward.  The competition has been narrowed from a field of 28 to 16.  Here is some of what happened in Round One:

*The most surprising upset was between Who Wants to Be a Millionaire (#14) and The Cosby Show (#3.  With a margin of 57% to 43%, the classic 1980's sitcom was knocked out by the only game show remaining in the tournament.

*Friends (#11) easily defeated 60 Minutes (#6) by a margin of 71% to 29%.  Friends was the top-rated show for only one season (2001-2001), yet 60 Minutes has been top-rated for five seasons at three different times.

*There were a total of three battles with a margin of 52% to 48%, meaning one vote separated the competition from going home of moving forward.  Laverne and Shirley (#5) defeated Roseanne (#12), Survivor (#8) defeated Bonanza (#9), and Rowan and Martin's Laugh-In (#10) defeated Wagon Train (#7).

*In the most-lopsided victory, ER (#4) took in a whopping 86% of the vote, compared to its competitor, Texaco Star Theater (#13), with only 14%.  If I had to guess, Texaco Star Theater was hurt by the fact that it was also the oldest show in the entire tournament.

Final vote percentage for Round One:
Happy Days (#8) - 43% vs. The Andy Griffith Show (#9) - 57%
Laverne and Shirley (#5) - 52% vs. Roseanne (#12) - 48%
Seinfeld (#4) - 71% vs. The $64,000 Question (#13) - 29%
60 Minutes (#6) - 29% vs. Friends (#11) - 71%
The Cosby Show (#3) - 43% vs. Who Wants to Be a Millionaire (#14) - 57%
Cheers (#7) - 76% vs. The Beverly Hillbillies (#10) - 24%
Survivor (#8) - 52% vs. Bonanza (#9) - 48%
American Idol (#5) - 62% vs. Arthur Godfey's Talent Scouts (#12) - 38%
ER (#4) 86% vs. Texaco Star Theater (#12) - 14%
CSI (#6) - 76% vs. Marcus Welby, M.D. (#11) - 24%
Dynasty (#3) - 57% vs. NBC Sunday Night Football (#14) - 43%
Wagon Train (#7) - 48% vs. Rowan and Martin's Laugh-In (#10) - 52%

Fun facts for Round Two:
*With the battle of Friends (#11) and Who Wants to Be a Millionaire? (#14), a double digit seed will move into the top eight.  Regardless of who wins, it'll be the highest seed remaining in the tournament.

*There is only one battle that will look like another: the #5-#4 seed set-up.  Every other match-up remaining has at least one seed that is different from another.

*All of the #1 and #2 shows in the tournament have set some kind of television record.  I Love Lucy (#1) scored the largest rating for a single season of a series with a massive 67.3 rating.  All in the Family (#2) is the only comedy to ever win five consecutive seasons without sharing first place.  Dallas (#1) is the highest rated non-series finale show on Nielsen's list; it ranks #2 overall, just behind the series finale of M*A*S*H (which was NEVER number one).  Gunsmoke (#2) is tied for the longest running primetime drama in the history of television, and also has one of the largest episode orders ever for a primetime series.

ROUND 2 VOTING ENDS ON FRIDAY, JULY 27TH AT 12/11c
