The CW has renewed veterans The Vampire Diaries, Arrow, Supernatural, and freshmen The Originals and Reign for the 2014-15 television season.

In what appears to becoming a common occurrence for the network, The CW handed out early renewals to its best performers on the season.

Four of the shows, The Vampire Diaries, Arrow, Supernatural, and The Originals, come as little surprise, given they are the four strongest performers on the network.  Reign, while ranking in the top five network shows, is a bit of a shock, at least to be given a renewal this early.

Arrow is averaging 2.82 million viewers, making it the most-watched show on The CW.  The Vampire Diaries continues to rank as the number one show on the network in all key demographics, and is averaging 2.5 million viewers, slightly behind Arrow.  Supernatural, which will head into its tenth (!) season in the fall is currently pulling in 2.37 million viewers.  Breakout new drama, The Originals, is averaging 2.21 million viewers, with Reign hovering around 1.73 million viewers.

All five are expected to return in September/October 2014.
