'I Love Lucy' title screen
With little surprise, one of televisions most iconic comedies of all time took first place in Tonight On TV's "Which Top Rated Show is Best Overall" competition.  I Love Lucy, which premiered way back in 1951, has been in syndication since it first went off the air in 1957.  That's right, a whopping 55 years after it aired it's last new episode, I Love Lucy is still making audiences laugh until this very day.  If I'm not mistaken, no other comedy in television history can claim such a feat.  Congratulations to I Love Lucy!

With I Love Lucy taking home the gold, ER had to settle for a solid second place finish.  The series ran for an impressive fifteen seasons, which is a record for a medical drama, before calling it quits in 2009.  Surprisingly, ER is currently not in syndication, only four years after its last new episode aired.  Regardless, ER has cemented itself in the world of television as one of the greatest medical dramas of all time.  Congratulations to ER!
